last wk's prac
we learned venipuncture n finger prickin
did fingerprick on angela

is a procedure in which a finger is pricked with a lancet

to obtain a small quantity of capillary blood for testing
the lancet has a blade inside so when u push the lancet against the finger,
the blade is push forward to make a cut on the finger
as i kept hesitatin and im realli afraid to inflict pain on poor angela,
the blood actualli starts to accumulate.
thus, when i finalli manage to push the blade into her finger
the blood jus starts ozzing out continuously
jus like a running tap
before i even wanted to get the collection tube,
the blood starts to flow all over the place,
staining my gloves and the bench
i started to panick
and broke down into tears

my hands started trembling
my tremblin hands didn't allowed the blood to drip into the collection tube
luckily,
angela and the rest were calm enough

n a successful fingerprick was done

we did a wbc count
n lookin at my results
lecturer suggest tat i hav slight iron deficiency
my random distribution of RBC weight was higher than the normal range given
meaning tat the sizes of my rbc are inconsistent=(
lecturer say mus eat for organs and greens

this wk
tried venipuncture
on poor angela again

basically, it is drawin blood from the vein.
my second time doing venipuncture
the first time was on angela too

it was a failed venipuncture as the blood starts to ooze out of the wound instead of into the tube

i still remember vividly my failed venipuncture
hw my trembling hands and those wobbly legs set in

i was feelin weak for the whole process

even after the venipuncture, my legs were too weak to hold my weight
i had to sit down to calm down those nerves first.
this time,
altho it was unsuccessful again
it was definitely better than the first time

anxiety and fear onli shadowed at the end of the procedure
hope with more practice,

comes a successful venipuncture
but who's willing to be tat guinea pig?=)
